Abbott's

Abbott's is a famous destination spot for lobster. When I was in my early teens, I was frequently given the task of taking the Boston Whaler across the river to Abbott's to pick up dinner. This place is very well known, but is mostly for tourists. You can have much better seafood at home - you can get the lobsters cooked to order a mile from our house at Sea Well, or to dine out go to Fords. This is not to say you would not have fun at Abbotts on a beautiful summer day standing on it dock looking at the boats going by and large fish that come up to its dock. It is just not a restful experience , with droves of people, and long lines or the most economical way to have lobster, but when you say you were in Mystic, the inevitable question will be, "Did you eat at Abbott's?" They have a brother restaurant called Costello's, just down the road that serves clams and is more like a food truck, that I kind of prefer.
